The goals of the Colorado Council for the Social Studies are to foster professional growth, develop communication among stakeholders in the social studies community, and promote the teaching of social studies in Colorado, the United States, and the international sphere.

In 2026, Colorado will observe two significant anniversaries. We invite you to join us in this opportunity to remember our shared past and imagine our future together.

"In 2026, the United States will mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence—our nation’s semiquincentennial. At the same time, Colorado will mark the 150th anniversary of our entrance into the Union—our state’s sesquicentennial. As the Centennial State, Colorado is the only one who will observe twin anniversaries—our Sesquisemiquincentennial."

Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society is the only national organization for high school juniors and seniors that recognizes excellence in the field of Social Studies. Join Retro Report for the Three States (CO, WY, and NE) professional development at the Poudre School District: Information Technology Center on September 19th!
This resource collection was funded in part by a Teaching With Primary Sources grant from the Library of Congress. The collection of 40 films spans U.S. History and is also great for Civics & Government and English/ELA courses. Each short film is accompanied by a primary source pack and scaffolded writing outlines to meet the needs of a variety of learners. Space is limited to the first 40 registrants!

Overview: Join the Bill of Rights Institute on September 19th in exploring benchmark aligned support materials for instruction!Participants will explore BRI materials and primary sources that can be clearly aligned to Colorado standards and benchmarks. This will be a collaborative workshop that engages teachers in both resource review and development! A laptop is required for this program. We kindly ask that you bring your own.
